Foods high in trans fats
With awareness increasing on the amount of trans fats that we are consuming, we should be aware of which foods to avoid or eat sparingly.
- Margarine ( a great way to get some flavor without trans fats or calories is to use butter spray.)
- Packaged cookies,cakes and doughnuts are big culprits.
- Frozen food section of the grocery store can have huge amounts of trans fats. Look for items that specifically say no trans fats.
- Fast Food is loaded with trans fats and a huge part of the obesity and heart disease problem with our nation
- Breakfast Cereals and Chip manufacturers have taken steps to eliminate trans fats and are moving in the right direction.
